The Playpen Learning Programme

 

The Playpen’s Foundation Years’ Programme caters to the age group 2  to 6 year olds who are taking their first step towards “school readiness”. The purpose of this programme is to lay a solid foundation for the formal school years ahead, establishing self-confidence and self-worth through intellectual and social development.

 

The Foundation Years’ Programme encompasses a stimulating play environment for each child’s social and emotional growth, as well as their physical and mental development. It aims to provide first hand experiences to children in a way that ensures development of skills related to the processes of learning. It also stresses on prior planning and scheduling, but at the same time it is flexible to the children’s needs. This programme encourages the development of innate multiple intelligences by providing opportunities to children to be creative.

 

Our Stepping Stones:

 

  • Play Group (2-3 years) – Our Play Group programme gives children a unique beginning of self-development in a warm atmosphere of personal attention, stimulation and nurturing.
  • Nursery (3-4 years) – The curriculum at this stage prepares children for more advanced thought processes and social connectedness with peers.
  • KG I (4-5 years) – Children build, create and explore with learning materials through consistent daily schedules as well as well thought out thematic lessons.
  • KG II (5-6 years) Children are encouraged to problem solve and practise empathetic behaviours until these tools are firmly in place in their life-skills tool boxes.

 

 

Approach to Teaching –Learning

 

The curriculum, completely aligned with the National Curriculum Framework for Foundational Stage 2022 is highly structured, well researched, interdisciplinary and global in nature. It takes into account the “whole child” recognizing each child’s unique interests, abilities, personality, style of learning and development. The teaching-learning approach is learner-centric, with students being involved in the learning process through a high degree of participation, contribution and creation.

 

Theme Based Teaching

 

Implementation of the curriculum is through the thematic approach to demonstrate coherent connections among learning areas, allowing a transfer of learning from one context to another

 

The content has been carefully designed around theme-based teaching, a vehicle for teaching a range of skills and content by integrating curriculum areas around a topic. The activities not only connect different curriculum strands, but also capitalize on children’s interests, creating a sense of purpose and community in the classroom.

 

Because the learning programme is based on the interests and life experiences of the children, their attitudes, skills and knowledge develop in meaningful ways.  Inquiry and communication are activated by a desire to know more, resulting in enthusiastic participation in the learning process.

About the Team

Mrs. Poonam Bhardwaj M.A. (Eng); M.Ed.; N.T.T. – Managing Director

Poonam Bhardwaj has been a professional educationist for the past 40 years. She has worn many hats including that of a School Principal, Author of Children’s books, Head Curriculum Developer for a chain of schools, Academic Head and teacher. An avid sportsperson, she is the recipient of a National Gold Medal for rowing. She is also certified by the Quality Council of India for preparing schools for Accreditation.

Mr. Rahul Bhardwaj: Director

(Business Head, Head Customer Support & Client Relationship Management)

Rahul Bhardwaj conceptualizes, directs and executes operational plans and business strategies of the Company. In addition to developing the Company’s brand, he focuses on building good relationships with clients and stakeholders in order that they benefit from the Company’s educational expertise. A critical thinker and problem solver par excellence, he creates efficient systems for seamless delivery and effective management of ongoing programs.

 

 

 

The Playpen’s Foundation Years’ Programme offers a stimulating environment through an integrated study programme for children in the age range of 2 to 6 years for four classes – Play Group, Nursery, Jr. Kids and Sr. Kids.

The purpose of this programme is to lay a solid foundation for the formal school years ahead, establishing self-confidence and self-worth through intellectual and social development.

This study programme has been developed with a view to provide holistic, whole student growth. It is dedicated to a student centric programme that promotes academic excellence through an enriched inter-disciplinary curriculum. Care has been taken to include activities that address multiple competencies to derive maximum learning. Several competencies are repeatedly reinforced across subjects.

The features that make “The Playpen” an appropriate name for a playschool are:

 

  • The health and safety of children at a play school cannot be over emphasized, and a playpen is an indispensable baby accessory that provides a safe place for a baby to play.The name playpen expresses our priority in keeping the well being of a child uppermost.

 

  • Learning through the play way and experiential method is the cornerstone of our learning programme, hence the inclusion of the word “play” in “Playpen” lends itself to this idea.
